Today I thought I will share with you, another gorgeous wedding of 2009!

On 19th of September, Louise and Patrick got married at the wonderful Glencorse House near Penicuik in Edinburgh.

Such a fantastic venue, beautiful surroundings, a cute kirk and a great minister who held a rather touching service. I must admit though, that I always get a wee tear of joy in my eye at any wedding ceremony. Just seeing two people so in love is just beautiful. Did I mention how much I love my job???

Winter warmers – winter proposals and summer weddings

It is absolutely freezing today and I’m trying to keep warm by eating soup and the most delicious Lebkuchen (ginger bread), courtesy of Judit, my lovely friend in Stuttgart and bride to be. Can’t wait to photograph her big day next year… But while munching away and browsing through my wedding archives, I remembered the wedding of the gorgeous Susie and Leo in Stranraer and our German connection. Susie had been working in Germany for a few years, in Schwaebisch Hall believe it or not, which is not far from the little village of Ellenberg where I’m from. Susie even speaks German with a southern accent. Absolutely brilliant! They had such a great wedding. The sun was shining and the location, a manor house garden was absolutely beautiful. When Leo proposed though it was winter and they were on a skiing holiday. On the third day, they were on the ski lift, when Susie looked down and someone had written: ‘SUSIE WILL YOU MARRY ME’ in the snow in big fat letters. Susie turned to Leo and said: ‘That lucky girl has the same name as me…’

Maybe not quite the reaction he’d expected, but the important thing is, she said yes.

Weddings on Loch Lomond, literally…

Oh, it’s grey out today and rainy and perfect for cups of tea galore and looking through my wedding archive to share with you a little something that should bring a smile to your face… Rain did not faze Julie and John on their wedding day, in fact the umbrellas set a colourful scene and the two were all smiles. I was really chuffed when they chose me to be their photographer for the day as they were saying “I do” on a little cruise ship on Loch Lomond. It was quite a rainy day but the sun broke through now and then and just in time for the group shots on the shore of Luss Pier. We just had to get rid of a very pesky swan who was keen to be photographed. Here are some of my favourites…

Heirloom wedding albums

When I started my business four years ago, I was trying to find beautiful albums for my clients.

I could not believe it when all that seemed to be on offer were the storybook albums (hard bound books with digital photo images directly printed on thick card) or rather life less looking black or white leather albums. Now I did realize that most photographers offer these, but honestly, I do not see the appeal. In my opinion, the story book is a ‘fashion’ trend that will look outdated and possibly fall to bits in 10 or 20 years time. I could not see myself offer those to my clients. I was looking for something that is unique, beautiful, an album that can be personalized, that will keep your treasured memories, that can fit ‘real’ photographic prints and will stay in my clients families for generations.

Afterall, every wedding is different and unique and your wedding album should reflect this.

Thank goodness therefore for the wonderful websites that are Etsy (http://www.etsy.com) and Dawanda (http://www.dawanda.de). If you aren’t yet familiar with them go check them out. Both of these, are websites which provide small business entrepreneurs with a way to buy and sell handmade items, including art, photography, clothing etc. And on there I found Kenji Kitahama, a Munich based artist who is making all my wonderful wedding albums.

All of Kenji’s albums are made from only the finest materials from Japan and Italy and are handcrafted to emphasize the beauty of professional photographs without distracting from them.
